Two Weeks in May
I created this sculpture in reaction to the recent misguided, cruel government policy that separates immigrant children from their parents. I folded 650 tiny “fortune-tellers” -- a popular children’s toy -- to represent the 650 children removed from their parents during two weeks in 2018. The fortune-tellers are piled on a high chair, which is placed on a mylar mat, evoking the blankets that provided little comfort to these traumatized children.
